Medicare Costs
Your Medicare costs will depend on the coverage, services, and providers you choose. There’s no annual cap on out-of-pocket expenses unless you have supplemental coverage, like a Medigap policy, or enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan.
What's a premium, deductible, coinsurance, or copayment?
Your premium is the monthly amount you pay for coverage, whether you get services or not.
A deductible is the amount you have to pay for covered services and items each year before Medicare or your plan begins to pay.
Co-insurance is a percentage of the costs you pay. In Medicare Part B, you generally pay 20% of the cost for each Medicare-covered service.
A co-payment is a fixed amount you pay for Medicare-covered services.
